News: Ventura (back) will return to the mound Monday night against the Rangers, the Kansas City Star reports. Impact: Ventura was scratched from his last scheduled start against the Twins due to upper-back stiffness, but will be back in action against Colby Lewis and the Rangers on Monday night. The young flamethrower had recorded six straight quality starts prior to missing his last outing, and owns a 3.40 ERA on the season. He's never eclipsed 150 innings in a single season over his career, but if he keeps that quality start streak going, he'll set a new career-mark Monday. The Royals will surely need Ventura if they're going to be well-equipped for both the future and a playoff run, so don't be surprised if they take it easy on the 23-year-old down the stretch.(RotoWire, )

News: Ventura will miss his next start due to soreness in his back, and Liam Hendricks will make his first start for the club Wednesday since arriving in a trade from Toronto. Impact: The emergence of Ventura has been one of the reasons Kansas City has climbed into first place in the AL Central. The hard-throwing rookie is 10-9 with a 3.40 ERA this season. Royals manager Ned Yost said he hopes that Ventura will only need to miss one start. (STATS, 6:26pm)

News: Ventura has been scratched from Wednesday's start against the Twins due to mid-back stiffness, Blair Kerkhoff of The Kansas City Star reports. Impact: If his recent outings are any indication -- he's tossed six consecutive quality starts -- Ventura didn't appear to be ailing, but his 37:18 K:BB during that stretch wasn't in line with his mark prior to that stretch (88:35). While the time off may reign in his control, Liam Hendricks will take on Ventura's opening in the rotation Wednesday.(RotoWire, )

News: Ventura struck out six and walked three while giving up one run on four hits over six innings Friday night to record his 10th win of the season. Impact: While the production this season hasn't necessarily met the sky-high expectations for the rookie right-hander, Ventura has put together a strong campaign despite a scare with his elbow earlier this season. Through 25 appearances (24 starts), he's now toting a 3.40 ERA and 1.30 WHIP with 125 strikeouts in 145.2 innings. He's also reeled off a stretch of six straight quality starts, while carrying a 37:18 K:BB in 38 innings during that span. Ventura will face the Twins in a home start his next time out.(RotoWire, )
