News: After tossing a rehab outing Sunday, Wacha (shoulder) could make his next start with the Cardinals, Chris Hrabe of KMOX St. Louis reports. Impact: Wacha is still building up his arm strength after recovering from a shoulder injury, and it sounds like the Cardinals want him to make a couple more starts in the minors. However, if none of their minor league affiliates reach postseason play, they may have no other choice but to have him pitch for the big club. Wacha's status should be firmed up once the minor league regular season comes to an end next week.(RotoWire, )

News: Wacha (shoulder) will make a rehab start Sunday for Double-A Springfield, Brian Stull of CBS Sports 920 AM St. Louis reports. Impact: Wacha followed up a 35-pitch bullpen session with a simulated outing Wednesday, his first live session since landing on the DL in late June. The right-hander has been cleared to start Springfield's second-to-last game of the season Sunday, and assuming the Cardinals still intend on returning him to the rotation, he'll likely need another sim game or two before being activated. In 15 starts for St. Louis this season, Wacha has posted a 2.79 ERA and 1.11 WHIP.(RotoWire, )

News: Wacha (shoulder) will move his rehab to Double-A Springfield, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. Impact: Wacha will first throw batting practice to Springfield's hitters Wednesday, and could make a rehab start for the team over the weekend. The Cardinals should provide a clearer outline for his rehab schedule after he throws the batting practice session.(RotoWire, )

News: Wacha (shoulder) threw a 35-pitch bullpen session Monday, MLB.com's Jenifer Langosch reports. Impact: Wacha tossed a mix of fastballs and changeups during the session at an estimated 75-to-80 percent effort. He's expected to increase the intensity of his throwing his next time out, tentatively scheduled for Wednesday. The Cardinals have expressed a desire for Wacha to head out on a rehab assignment or simulated game before returning from the DL, likely at some point in early September.(RotoWire, )

News: Wacha (shoulder) threw off a mound Saturday, Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports. Impact: Wacha cleared a major hurdle on his long road back from a shoulder injury Saturday, throwing off a mound for the first time in nearly two months. Even with the additions of John Lackey and Justin Masterson at the deadline, Wacha still seems likely to return as a starter, though GM John Mozeliak has not ruled out the possibility of Wacha stepping into a bullpen role once healthy.(RotoWire, )
