News: Zunino went 3-for-4 with a solo homer in Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Orioles. Impact: The three-hit performance salvaged an otherwise disappointing week for Zunino, who went 2-for-14 in the Mariners' previous six games. Zunino's high-strikeout, low-walk tendencies should continue to hold down his batting average, but few catchers are capable of providing the power numbers he brings. Sunday's homer was his 15th of the season, ranking him behind only the Braves' Evan Gattis and Reds' Devin Mesoraco among all MLB backstops.(RotoWire, )

News: Zunino is not in the lineup Saturday against the Orioles, Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times reports. Impact: Zunino will head to the bench after starting five of the team's last six games, as Jesus Sucre steps in to catch starter Chris Yong. While Zunino is just 6-for-56 (.107 average) so far this month, he does not appear to be in any real danger of losing his job as primary backstop for Seattle.(RotoWire, )

Impact: Manager Lloyd McClendon will spell Zunino after the catcher started each of the team's last three games. News: Zunino isn't in the lineup Saturday at the Angels, Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune reports. Impact: After turning it on in the last week and a half of June -- five homers in a span of 35 at-bats -- Zunino has mustered just two hits in 38 at-bats this month, with almost no plate discipline evident (zero walks versus 12 strikeouts). With a day of rest in hand, he'll yield the backstop to Jesus Sucre, who is predictably batting at the bottom of the order.(RotoWire, )
