News: Straily allowed seven runs (five earned) on four hits and three walks over 5.1 innings Saturday against the Mets. While he struck out four, he also hit a batter. Impact: Straily said after the game that he unraveled after hitting David Wright with one out in the sixth. He also wasn't helped by having two inherited runners score off Kyuji Fujikawa. "It went pretty well until I hit Wright, and things kind of unraveled for me," he said. "I had them on the ropes right there and then lost the fastball in. You can't follow it up with a walk, a hit and another walk. It's unacceptable." Straily will go back down to Triple-A Iowa on Sunday, but he'll almost certainly be back in September.(RotoWire, )

News: Cubs manager Rick Renteria confirmed that the plan is for Straily to head back to the minors after Saturday's start, Carrie Muskat of MLB.com reports. Impact: The 25-year-old Straily will be up Saturday to oppose Jon Niese in his Cubs debut, after posting a 3.00 ERA and 1.28 WHIP in seven starts (39 innings) since joining Triple-A Iowa. It will end up being just a spot start, but Straily figures to return when rosters expand in September.(RotoWire, )

News: Straily will be called up from Triple-A Iowa to start Saturday vs. the Mets, ESPN Chicago's Jesse Rogers reports. Impact: Straily will not be replacing anyone in the rotation; as of now, it looks like he'll just be called up to make a spot start, with the remaining five starters moving their next turn back a day. Acquired from the Athletics in the blockbuster Fourth of July deal that sent Jeff Samardzija and Jason Hammel to Oakland, Straily has gone 3-3 with a 3.00 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 40:13 K:BB over seven starts with Iowa.(RotoWire, )
