News: Gomes (concussion) showed much improvement Tuesday and was able to do some running and pregame hitting activities, MLB.com reports. "He's having a really good day," said manager Terry Francona. "Friday's his day. Unless he has a setback somewhere -- which it doesn't look like he [will] -- he'll probably be ready to go." Impact: Gomes' availability for Friday will certainly hinge on how he feels Wednesday after the increased activity level Tuesday but it sounds like he should be ready to return when eligible.(RotoWire, )

News: Gomes backed off on his activities Sunday after still experiencing concussion symptoms Saturday, MLB.com reports. "I don't think that it'll be more than [seven days], but there's phases," manager Terry Francona said of the concussion protocol Sunday. "They ramp up progressively. I think there's three or four steps, and each one you have to pass. When you pass one, you go on to the next one. How fast, it just depends on how you feel. Impact: Gomes isn't eligible to return until the weekend, so he's a likely sit in most formats despite his recent production at the plate.(RotoWire, )

News: Gomes was removed from Thursday's game due to an illness, MLB.com's Rhett Bollinger reports. News: Although the Indians indicated Gomes left Thursday's game on account of an illness, manager Terry Francona said the catcher would be monitored for a concussion, Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. Impact: Team sources are often reluctant to diagnose players with head injuries until proper testing his conducted, which probably explains Gomes' original classification. But for all intents and purposes, Gomes was removed from Thursday's contest after taking a deflected ball to the mask, an action that can typically result in head injuries for catchers. Gomes will be subjected to a few tests to determine if he did indeed suffer a concussion, and an update on his condition should be provided prior to Friday's game.(RotoWire, )
