News: Nieuwenhuis is starting in right field Sunday against the Phillies, Adam Rubin of reports. Impact: Nieuwenhuis is making his first start in more than three weeks, as the promotion of Matt den Dekker has substantially cut into his playing time. A few weeks ago it looked Nieuwenhuis would platoon in left, but den Dekker has seen most of the action at the position while Curtis Granderson starts daily in right. Nieuwenhuis is getting the nod in right Sunday with Granderson scuffling at the plate.(RotoWire, )

Impact: Nieuwenhuis completed tests earlier in the day which seemed to show nothing concerning regarding his neck injury, allowing him to slot back into the Mets' initial lineup. However, the Mets evidently decided to err on the side of caution and keep him out of the game.
