News: Darvish (elbow) still has yet to throw a baseball since going on the DL on August 13, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports. Impact: He hasn't officially been shut down for the season, but there's little reason to think he'll be able to pitch again this year with just four weeks remaining in the season.(RotoWire, )

News: Darvish (elbow) may not pitch again this season, the Dallas Morning News reports. "With everything else we've dealt with and how important he is, we've said once he's completely asymptomatic and the doctor clears him, we'd get another scan and then if everything is clear, we'd get him back pitching," general manager Jon Daniels said. "By the calendar and how close to the end of the season we are, I don't know that it will allow him to pitch again." Impact: Darvish has already spent nearly two weeks on the disabled list due to an inflamed right elbow, but the Rangers will exercise the utmost caution in order to ensure that there's no potential for a setback before clearing him for mound work. Although he currently has no timetable for starting a throwing program, the fact that he may return to the Rangers' rotation before the season concludes makes it difficult to cut ties with the 28-year-old right-hander.(RotoWire, )

News: Darvish (elbow) will not travel with the Rangers at the outset of the upcoming road trip, and there's no timetable for him to begin a throwing program, Fox Sports Southwest's Anthony Andro reports. Impact: The three-series road trip will take the Rangers into the first week of September, and if Darvish doesn't begin throwing soon, there will be little reason for the Rangers to bring him back at all this season. Darvish hasn't disappointed on his preseason promise on a per-start basis, but it seems likely he'll finish the season with fewer than 160 innings (currently at 144.1), which means he'll fall well short of the value owners hoped they were getting on draft day. Derek Holland also just had a setback in his recovery, and Scott Baker will start Sunday for the Rangers, which shows just how desperate the Rangers are for starting pitching.(RotoWire, )

News: Manager Ron Washington is still unsure if Darvish (elbow) will travel with the team on next week's road trip, Fox Sports Southwest's Anthony Andro reports. Impact: The team will travel to Seattle following Sunday's game, followed by trips to Houston and Kansas City on a road trip that lasts until Sept. 3, so it's possible Darvish could be held out until early September, and possibly beyond.(RotoWire, )

News: Rangers manager Ron Washington said Tuesday that he's "backing off" his announced intent for Darvish (elbow) to pitch Aug. 25 against Seattle, the Dallas Morning News reports. Impact: The skipper said last Friday that he had been given no indication that Darvish would need more than the minimum 15 days required his DL stint, but he backtracked Tuesday, saying simply "I don't know what's going to happen there." Darvish has not thrown in the week since he hit the DL, and while the team has not suggested the right-hander is dealing with anything more significant than the original diagnosis of inflammation, Darvish's status for a return is completely in the air at the moment.(RotoWire, )

News: Darvish has been placed on the 15-day disabled list because of inflammation in his right elbow. Impact: The move was retroactive to Sunday, a day after he allowed six runs and nine hits over four innings in a loss at Texas. The Rangers said Darvish didn't have any issues during that game, but felt tightness when throwing on the side Monday. (STATS, 7:50pm)
