News: Darvish (elbow) is not expected to resume throwing before he returns home at the end of the season, T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports. Impact: Darvish still has not been cleared to throw, more than a month after being shut down due to elbow inflammation, and he likely won't be before the end of September. The Rangers figure to monitor Darvish's progress closely in Japan in the offseason, though there's been nothing to suggest the right-hander is any danger of missing the start of the 2015 campaign.(RotoWire, )

News: Darvish (elbow) was transferred to the 60-day disabled list Sunday. Impact: Darvish isn't going to pitch again this season anyway, so the team made the move to open up a spot on the 40-man roster for Guilder Rodriguez, who was added to the Rangers' active roster Sunday. Darvish should be good to go for the start of next season, however, as he will use the rest of the season and the offseason to rehab.(RotoWire, )

News: Darvish (elbow) won't pitch again for the Rangers this season, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports. Impact: With the Rangers well out of the playoff hunt, they decided not to take any chances with their star right-hander and shut Darvish down for the year. The Rangers appear to be taking the cautious route and don't seem overly concerned about Darvish's health, so he should be good to go for Opening Day next year.(RotoWire, )

News: Darvish (elbow) is scheduled to undergo another examination Thursday, ESPN Dallas reports. Impact: The Rangers understandably want to keep close tabs on Darvish's progress, but GM Jon Daniels said recently that even if the right-hander is cleared to begin a throwing program, it's probably not worth returning him to action this season. Darvish did not experience any issues with his arm in his last start Aug. 9, but the inflammation crept up shortly thereafter, leading to his placement on the 15-day DL. He could be a 60-day candidate if the decision is made to formally rule him out for the year.(RotoWire, )

News: Darvish (elbow) is unlikely to pitch again this season, the Dallas Morning News' Evan Grant reports. "We're going to make a common sense decision," general manager Jon Daniels said Wednesday. "We are leaning towards not taking any chances." Impact: The Rangers' ace has made significant improvement in the symptoms related to his elbow inflammation, but nothing seems to have changed on this front, and Darvish owners should plan on him not pitching again until 2015.(RotoWire, )
