News: Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said that Jimenez is an option to back up at both corner-infield spots, and potentially see time at second base.
Impact: When asked about the team's depth options Monday, Roenicke praised Jimenez's defense at third base. Upon being asked if third base is his only viable position, Roenicke indicated that first base -- and even the keystone -- are possibilities as well. Scooter Gennett is expected to receive an opportunity to face left-handed pitching this season, but if he struggles, Jimenez may emerge to fill the platoon partner role that Rickie Weeks held last season. Jimenez will turn 27 in spring training, and he was never been able to carve out a steady role with the Angels despite intriguing numbers at Triple-A Salt Lake. His minor league numbers have been similar at most of his stops, culminating in a .299/.335/.509 mark over eight seasons following a 2014 campaign that included 21 home runs and a 12-for-16 mark as a basestealer.

News: Jimenez was claimed off waivers by the Brewers on Monday, Andrew Gruman of Fox Sports Wisconsin reports.
Impact: Jimenez had an excellent season at Triple-A Salt Lake, slashing .286/.321/.505 with 21 home runs and 12 steals. The 26-year-old appeared in 18 games for the Angles, but notched only six hits in 37 at-bats.
