The White Sox acquired Edwin Jackson from the Diamondbacks, following trade talks first reported by But what does it mean for Adam Dunn? The White Sox covet him and would like to bring him to Chicago without including Jackson in the trade. As of Thursday, the White Sox remained the most serious team in the pursuit of Dunn. But one source said Friday that they're not alone.

On Saturday, the Dodgers acquired Lilly and infielder Ryan Theriot along with $2.5 million from the Cubs for infielder Blake DeWitt and two minor-league pitchers.

The Dodgers are in discussions with the Cubs about a trade that would bring them Lilly and infielder Ryan Theriot. At this point, the Dodgers could be the favorite to land him. The Mets have liked Lilly but are “not likely” to acquire him, according to one source, while the Twins could become a factor if the price drops far enough. The Tigers have slowed their pursuit.

MLB 49 43 Top MLB trade targets at deadline 11542928 Brad Hawpe and Aaron Cook, Rockies Brad+Hawpe+and+Aaron+Cook%2C+Rockies MLB

The Rockies are flipping the switch to “sell” after a rugged stretch that has left them a distant fourth in the National League West. Hawpe (left-handed bat) and Cook (mid-rotation starter) are two of their top trade commodities. There hasn’t been overwhelming interest in either of them to this point, but that could change. If the Rockies don’t want to pick up Hawpe’s contract option for next year, this would be a fine time to move him. Perhaps unfortunately for them, two teams that have tried to add a bat — the Padres and Giants — are in the same division.

MLB 49 43 Top MLB trade targets at deadline 11543344 Bobby Abreu & Hideki Matsui, Angels Bobby+Abreu+%26amp%3B+Hideki+Matsui%2C+Angels MLB

While the Angels aren’t a clear seller, one major-league source believes they would move Abreu or Matsui in the right trade. Neither is an outstanding defender at this point in his career, so a move within the American League is preferable. It’s not clear if the Yankees have interest in a reunion with either player; the Yankees have been looking for a bat.

MLB 49 43 Top MLB trade targets at deadline 11543443 Prince Fielder, Brewers Prince+Fielder%2C+Brewers MLB

When asked if he expects Fielder to stay in Milwaukee, one scout who knows the Brewers well replied, “Not a doubt in my mind.” Fielder won’t become a free agent until after next season, so the Brewers don’t have great incentive to move him now. And team owner Mark Attanasio places value on putting an entertaining product on the field, which Fielder helps him do. But count on a frenzied off-season pursuit, including perhaps the Giants, Rays, Red Sox, Braves, Rangers and White Sox.

Downs is the most coveted left-handed reliever on the market, with the Red Sox, Yankees, Twins, Giants, Phillies and others showing interest in recent weeks. As of Thursday night, the Jays had set a high price tag on Downs. We will know very quickly if other teams are willing to meet it — or if Toronto general manager Alex Anthopoulos changes course.

MLB 49 43 Top MLB trade targets at deadline 11542935 Jose Bautista, Blue Jays Jose+Bautista%2C+Blue+Jays MLB

Bautista leads the majors in home runs, but his agent, Bean Stringfellow, told that the Blue Jays haven’t raised the possibility of a contract extension. (He’s set to become a free agent at the end of next year.) So, that raises the possibility of a trade. The Giants, who are looking for offense, have spoken with the Jays recently, but it’s not clear if Bautista was involved in the talks. A team that needs production in right field, such as the Padres, would be a good fit.

The Yankees acquired Berkman.

Now that his longtime teammate Roy Oswalt has been traded, Berkman could be next. He might be more difficult for the Astros to move, because his production has fallen a considerable distance from his peak years. Plus, there is the matter of a $15 million club option (or $2 million buyout) for next season. But the Yankees have some interest in Berkman — and, of course, enough spare change to make a deal work.

MLB 49 43 Top MLB trade targets at deadline 11543465 Zack Greinke & Joakim Soria, Royals Zack+Greinke+%26amp%3B+Joakim+Soria%2C+Royals MLB

Remember last year’s trade deadline, when the rumors about Seattle’s Felix Hernandez and San Diego’s Adrian Gonzalez bubbled up at the last minute? A similar phenomenon could happen with Greinke and Soria — and they play for the same team. Kansas City would attach an exorbitant price to each player, and rightfully so. But in these final, frenzied hours, someone might meet it.

MLB 49 43 Top MLB trade targets at deadline 11545223 Ty Wigginton, Orioles Ty+Wigginton%2C+Orioles MLB

Wigginton has been among the most-rumored hitters in the game this month, thanks to his All-Star Game selection and the Orioles’ sorry play. But it’s not certain that he will be moved. Interest from the Twins, Phillies and Giants has cooled recently. And Wigginton is batting only .213 since June 1, which hasn’t helped his value.

Only hours remain before the trade deadline.

Cliff Lee, Dan Haren and Roy Oswalt are off the board, and Edwin Jackson (pictured) was traded to the White Sox on Friday for  pitchers Daniel Hudson and David Holmberg.

But plenty other luxury items remain. Here are updates on 10 key players (or tandems) with a little more than 24 hours left before Saturday’s 4 p.m. siren.
