News: Santana (shoulder) will remain with the Blue Jays past his opt-out date of April 28, Scott MacArthur of TSN 1050 reports.
Impact: Santana, who hasn't pitched in the majors since 2012, continues to work his way back from a shoulder issue. He began throwing off flat ground earlier in April with hopes of returning to the mound at some point this month, but there's no word of that yet. If he eventually does return to the mound and subsequently to game action at some point, it's unclear right now whether he would serve as anything more than organizational depth.

News: Santana (shoulder) is throwing off flat ground and hopes to get back on a mound later in April, Ken Fidlin of the Toronto Sun reports.
Impact: The 35-year-old hasn't pitched since 2012 and hasn't made more than 25 starts since 2010. The former Cy Young winner has a long road ahead of him, but appears to still be on the same track laid out late in March. Santana needs to demonstrate that he's not only healthy, but also that he can still be effective before he's really worth consideration in fantasy leagues.

News: Santana (shoulder) is progressing, but is not expected to throw off a mound until mid-April, SportsNet's Shi Davidi reports.
Impact: The Blue Jays will look to Santana and possibly Randy Wolf at some point if their rookies (Daniel Norris and Aaron Sanchez) struggle in the rotation. Still, as a seventh or eighth starter returning from serious injury, Santana is only worth an investment in the deepest of leagues.
