News: Richards (knee) is not expected to be ready for Opening Day, but should be ready to join the rotation by mid-May, the Orange County Register's Jeff Fletcher reports.
Impact: Manager Mike Scioscia said Richards will be able to join the rotation within the first month or six weeks of the 2015 season, but considering how far off that is, it should not be thought of as a concrete timetable. Owners should be aware that Richards needs to be significantly discounted heading into drafts next year. Richards went undrafted in many leagues last season, yet finished with a 2.61 ERA (3.15 xFIP) and 164 strikeouts in 168.2 innings before suffering a season-ending knee injury. Considering this initial timetable, owners should not expect much more than 150-160 innings out of Richards in 2015.

News: Richards (knee) has been cleared to begin throwing next week, the Los Angeles Times' Mike DiGiovanna reports.
Impact: The Angels' righty underwent season-ending surgery to repair a torn patellar tendon in his left knee in August, and remains on track to be ready for the 2015 season opener. Richards should begin running sometime around Jan. 1, and could begin throwing off a mound shortly after. Last season was a breakout season for Richards prior to his injury, as he posted a 2.61 ERA with 164 strikeouts in 168.2 innings.
