News: Rodriguez is regaining some of manager Brad Ausmus's trust and could work his way back into high-leverage situations, Ryan Zuke of MLive.com reports.
Impact: Rodriguez tossed scoreless innings on Friday and Sunday in Texas, and while that's a small sample, it's better than his previous results this season. "I would like to get him back in the (late-inning) mix, probably," Ausmus said. "If he can keep having outings like this, it makes it a lot easier to have a deeper bullpen." Justin Wilson has been outstanding as Detroit's closer, so K-Rod might be hard pressed to wrestle that role back. But he could be looking at some more holds and possibly some vultured wins if he pitches later in close games.

News: Rodriguez (1-5) was tagged with the loss in Tuesday's 13-inning game against the Orioles. He allowed two earned runs in an inning of work on two hits and a walk.
Impact: Rodriguez entered in the top of the 13th with the game tied 11-11. He promptly allowed a leadoff double to Mark Trumbo and then a home run to Chris Davis. Rodriguez really can't be trusted at this point, but the Tigers had little choice after burning through five relievers in the first 12 innings. At this point, the veteran reliever does not look like he will be regaining the closer role anytime soon.
