News: Mastroianni was traded to the Nationals for cash considerations Tuesday, The Morning Call's Stephen Gross reports.
Impact: While the Nationals' starting outfielders are healthy, the team's depth has been depleted by injuries. Mastroianni may not immediately be needed on the big-league roster, but he could help with depth down the road. He owns an ugly .212/.274/.289 slash line over 306 career big-league plate appearances, but with 24 stolen bases in 28 attempts. At the very least, he should be useful as a pinch-runner in September.

News: Mastroianna was reassigned to minor league camp Wednesday.
Impact: Mastroianni entered the spring with a chance to crack the big league roster after signing with the Phillies over the offseason, but he struggled mightily with just one hit in 17 at-bats in Grapefruit League action. The 29-year-old will likely head to Triple-A after spending the majority of 2014 there and will be in line for a promotion if the parent club needs further outfield depth.
