News: Gillaspie estimates he added 15-to-20 pounds of muscle during the offseason, ESPN Chicago reports.
Impact: Gillaspie posted a surprising 113 OPS+ while holding onto the White Sox's starting third base role for the whole season, but he did so with meager power. He only hit seven home runs all year and posted a .134 ISO over his 506 plate appearances. The extra muscle should help put a bit more into his swing, but he also credited his improved batting average last year to his focus on putting the ball in play rather than over the wall. He enters 2015 as the heavy favorite to keep his third base gig, though that will not be guaranteed.
