News: Holt said he expects to see most of his playing time in the infield, WEEI.com reports. The super-utility player made appearances at seven positions in 2014.
Impact: Holt, who had a career-high 492 plate appearances for Boston in 2014, is not expected to repeat that mark this season. The addition of Hanley Ramirez (left field) and Pablo Sandoval (third base) removes a couple of positions Holt played last season. And the emergence of Mookie Betts further puts a damper on Holt's opportunities.

News: Holt is no longer experiencing concussion symptoms and should be fully healthy for spring training, Scott Lauber of the Boston Herald reports.
Impact: Holt proved to be an indispensable reserve for the injury-plagued Red Sox last season, batting an impressive .281/.331/.381 while seeing time at every position but pitcher and catcher. The versatility allowed Holt to retain a regular lineup spot near the top of the order from about the middle of May until the concussion knocked him out for the final week of the season. Following the offseason additions of Hanley Ramirez and Pablo Sandoval along with the return to health of several key contributors, Holt looks destined to fill a utility role this season, something his skill set is probably better suited for.
