Padres fall short to Giants 5-4
APR 26, 11:34a ET | Janie McCauley

News: Wallace got his first start of the regular season at third base and went 0-for-3 in Saturday's win over Arizona.
Impact: He was replaced by Adam Rosales late in the game in the extra-inning win. Wallace may continue to figure into the mix of starters at third base -- along with Alexi Amarista and Rosales -- while Yangervis Solarte (hamstring) is on the DL, but Wallace will most likely have a limited role as a pinch hitter, with occasional spot starts.

News: Wallace (foot) walked as a pinch hitter in Friday's exhibition game against the White Sox.
Impact: Wallace was sidelined much of the past week with a sore foot, but it doesn't look like an issue for Opening Day. He begins the season with a reserve role.
Rotowire: Mar 23 / 10:51a ET
News: Wallace (foot) has been out with a sore foot; however, the injury is minor, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.
Impact: Wallace has been playing games on the back-fields without running the bases, but it doesn't seem to be that serious. In only 64 MLB games last year, Wallace hit for a strong .302/.374/.521 slash line with five home runs and 16 RBI. While most of his work came against righties and all five of his home runs came against them, he still hit .296 against lefties, which may put him in line for more at-bats against southpaws.
