News: Colon, not Matt Harvey, has been picked to start the New York Mets' opener at Washington on April 6.
Impact: Colon was 15-13 with a 4.09 ERA last year and at 41 will become the oldest opening-day starting pitcher in the major leagues since April 2006, when 43-year-old Jamie Moyer was on the mound for Seattle and 42-year-old Randy Johnson for the New York Yankees.

News: Colon will start Opening Day for the Mets against the Nationals, ESPN New York reports.
Impact: Colon was expected to be in the mix for the starting nod, and it appears the team will give him the honor. Unfortunately, he'll be matching up with either Stephen Strasburg, Jordan Zimmermann or Max Scherzer for the Nationals, so it could require a superb outing for him to come away with the win.

News: Colon may get the Opening Day nod against Washington, ESPN New York reports.
Impact: Nothing is set in stone yet, but the Mets are strongly considering having Colon get the honor. If Colon does get the start, he would be the oldest Opening Day starter in baseball since 2006 and the oldest in Met history.
