News: Warren will start the team's first spring game, Sweeny Murti of WFAN Radio reports.
Impact: Warren was told to prepare for spring training as a starting pitcher as he'll compete with Chris Capuano and Esmil Rogers for the fifth spot in the rotation. The 27-year-old has only started three games in his career, but strong showings in spring training appearances could earn him the starter's role.

News: Warren has been told to prepare for spring training as a starting pitcher, the Westchester Journal News reports.
Impact: The Yankees are viewing Warren and Esmil Rogers as potential sixth starter options, which could enable either pitcher to push for a rotation spot if injuries strike. Ivan Nova won't be ready to begin the season, leaving Chris Capuano as the team's projected fifth starter to begin spring training. Warren moved to the bullpen for the Yankees in 2013 and took a big step forward in the late-inning role last season (2.97 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, 76:24 K:BB). As a starter at Triple-A in 2011 and 2012, Warren carried sub-4.00 ERAs, but he struggled to miss bats at a high rate. If he were to secure a rotation spot, Warren would profile as an innings eater.
