The next time Cardinals pitcher Marc Rzepczynski hits the golf course, he should probably wear safety glasses.
As first reported by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Rzepczynski was injured at a golf outing on Friday when a golf ball ricocheted and hit the left-handed reliever around his left eye.
Although the club is hopeful the injury is not serious, Rzepczynski will miss his scheduled pitching outing Saturday against the Marlins. The Cardinals are yet to determine the severity of the injury, but he will be listed as day-to-day until evaluations are complete according to a team source.
Rzepczynski worked a perfect inning in relief on Thursday against the Yankees, needing only five pitches to retire the side including a strikeout.
