The Kansas City Royals have sent pitcher Eric Skoglund to Triple-A Omaha and recalled pitcher Kevin McCarthy.

After a dazzling big league debut May 30th that brought Royals fans to their feet as the young lefty walked off the mound, Skoglund struggled in his next two starts for the team. Skoglund posted a 1-1 record along with a 5.59 ERA in three starts. The 24-year-old was recently moved to the bullpen and replaced in the rotation by Matt Strahm.

McCarthy is expected to join the Royals bullpen. He is yet to allow a run this season in 6.1 innings of work for the Royals. He has posted a 2.33 ERA in 20 appearances at Triple-A Omaha.
