KANSAS CITY, Mo. — As expected, the Royals recalled infielder Christian Colon, outfielder Terrance Gore and right-handers Aaron Crow and Liam Hendriks from Double-A Northwest Arkansas on Tuesday.

Major-league roster rules stipulated that those players had to wait until Northwest Arkansas’ season was completed before being recalled. The Naturals’ season ended Monday.

The arrival of Crow and Hendriks will be just in time: The Royals have used their late-inning trio of Kelvin Herrera, Wade Davis and Greg Holland three straight nights, a group that certainly will need tonight off against the Rangers.

Colon will return to his role as the team’s primary utility infielder, backing up Omar Infante at second as well as getting occasional starts at third base for Mike Moustakas.

Gore is one of the fastest players, if not the fastest, in the Royals’ organization, with speed that rivals Jarrod Dyson’s. Gore stole 36 bases earlier this year at Class A Wilmington.
