The Hambletonian trotting race will remain at the Meadowlands Racetrack through 2018.

SADDLE UP

Time after time, Hollywood has shown a racetrack is a great place to tell a compelling story. We look at 10 must-see horse racing movies.

The Hambletonian Society and track extended the existing contract three additional years. The Meadowlands has hosted the event since 1981.

The $1.2 million renewal takes place Aug. 3.

The Hambletonian, first contested in 1926, is part of the Trotting Triple Crown for 3-year-olds. Before coming to the Meadowlands, the Hambletonian was presented at five venues, including a 25-year run at the fairgrounds in DuQuoin, Ill., that concluded in 1980.
