Morning line favorite Grandeur drew the outside post Wednesday in the post-position draw for Saturday’s 31st running of the Arlington Million.
Grandeur, a 4-year-old gelding from Ireland, drew odds of 7-2 for the Grade 1 turf race even though the horse is winless in two races this year. Grandeur ran well in the most recent race, at York in England, losing to Mukhadran by less than a length.
Argentine import Indy Point, a 4-year-old with a win in his only start of the year, was made second favorite at 9-2, and starts from the seven slot. Defender Little Mike, seeking to become the first back- to-back winner of the Million, will start from the 11 slot, and is listed as the third favorite at 5-1. Little Mike, a 6-year-old gelding, won four of his seven starts in 2012, but is winless in three outings this year.
The Million, whose purse was the largest in racing when the race debuted in 1981, lured a field of 13, including seven from outside the United States.
