Bourbon Courage stormed back from as far back as eighth and distanced the field down the stretch Saturday to win the $500,000 Super Derby by five lengths.

Ridden by jockey Leandro Goncalves, Bourbon Courage left the gate as the 5-2 second choice in the Grade 2 race at Louisiana Downs. He completed the 1-1/8-mile race in 1 minute, 51.40 seconds and returned $7.20 on a $2 win bet.

Fly Lexis Fly finished second by a nose ahead of Master Rick.

Favorite Blueskiesnrainbows, trained by Bob Baffert, led for more than the first half of the race before fading to seventh down the stretch.

Winning trainer Kellyn Gorder said Bourbon Courage could be pointed for the Remington Park Derby and Indiana Derby.
