Beholder wins the Juvenile Fillies

ARCADIA, Calif. (AP)

Beholder led all the way, holding off 3-2 favorite Executiveprivilege by one length Friday to capture the $2 million Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies at Santa Anita.

It was the 13th victory in the season-ending championships for jockey Garrett Gomez and the seventh for trainer Richard Mandella .

Beholder pinned the first loss on trainer Bob Baffert's Executiveprivilege, ending her five-race winning streak. The time was 1 minute, 43.61 seconds for the 1-1/16 miles.

Beholder paid $9.80 on a $2 win bet.

Dreaming of Julia finished third.

LADIES' CLASSIC

Royal Delta defended her title in the Ladies' Classic, giving jockey Mike Smith a record 16th Breeders' Cup victory. Smith moved past fellow Hall of Famer Jerry Bailey. READ MORE
