Dubai, UAE (Sports Network) - Breeders' Cup Classic winner Pleasantly Perfect overtook Medaglia d'Oro to win Saturday's $6 million Dubai World Cup. This was the same result as last year's Breeders' Cup Classic. Pleasantly Perfect was ridden by Alex Solis for owner Edmund Gann and trainer Richard Mandella. The win was worth $3.6 million to bring the thoroughbred's career earnings to nearly $6.7 million. Pleasantly Perfect is now seventh on the all-time earnings list of North American horses.

The pace in the World Cup was set by Fleetstreet Dance while Medaglia d'Oro pressed from the outside. Pleasantly Perfect was running third a couple of lengths behind the leader.

Medaglia d'Oro assumed the lead entering the stretch. Pleasantly Perfect joined his arch rival in mid-stretch and did not take the lead until the final 100 yards. The margin of victory was 3/4's of a length and the time for the 1 1/4 miles was 2:00 1/5. Finishing third was Victory Moon and Grand Hombre was fourth in the 12 horse field.

While there is no wagering in the United Arab Emirates, in the United States Pleasantly Perfect returned $7.40 and $3.00. Medaglia d'Oro paid $2.10 for place and Victory Moon paid $3.60 for show.
