Empire Maker to skip Preakness for Belmont

Elmont, NY (Sports Network) - Trainer Bobby Frankel has announced that Kentucky Derby runner-up will not go in the upcoming Preakness Stakes. The three-year-old colt will await the 1 1/2 mile Belmont Stakes in June. Frankel said he will decide this weekend whether or Midas Eyes will run in the middle leg of racing's Triple Crown. finished third in the Kentucky Derby after winning the Louisiana Derby and the Blue Grass Stakes. Midas Eyes won the Derby Trial at Churchill Downs one week prior to the Run for the Roses and earlier won the Swale Stakes at Gulfstream Park. If Midas Eyes does not enter the Preakness, Frankel indicated he will run in the Metropolitan Handicap on Memorial Day at Belmont Park.
