Diamond caps 'Sweet' day at Fenway
A thrilling day at Fenway Park was capped by an unexpected appearance by Neil Diamond on Saturday afternoon.
The Boston Red Sox said Diamond called them just after noon ET and asked if he could lead the crowd in singing his "Sweet Caroline," an anthem for the fans and team.
If you are wondering what it meant for Diamond to be there, he took an early, early morning flight from Los Angeles to get to the game, which started shortly after 1 p.m. EST.
The answer was a resounding yes and it was followed by a resounding sing-along that had the place rocking and rolling.
Neil Diamond flew in this morning, called Red Sox switchboard and asked if he could sing today. Wasn't set up by Red Sox— Rob Bradford (@bradfo) April 20, 2013
