Xavier Fulton Stats Scouting Report

SCOUTING REPORT: A former tight end with plenty of athleticism, Fulton was a standout left tackle for the Illini, starting every game and paving the way for the team that led the Big Ten in total offense over the past two seasons. Fulton earned second-team All-Big Ten honors both years, his first two on the offensive side of the ball after playing defensive tackle in his first two seasons in Champaign. Considering he's relatively new to the position, he has plenty of potential to pan out as a solid professional blocker, a fact recognized by his invitations to both the Senior Bowl and the NFL combine. But there are some concerns about injuries after he redshirted the 2006 season due to knee problems, and he also dealt with shoulder issues as a senior. His footwork is among the areas that could use some improvement. Still, Fulton is one of more talented prospects available, and remains a likely mid-round selection with the chance to impress scouts even more with his athleticism and strength during pre-draft workouts. Fulton has also been mentioned as possibly an eventual guard in the NFL, and his proven versatility - having already switched positions twice - can only help his hopes for the future. - STATS
