Wie, a 14-year-old high school freshman, dazzled the golf world two weeks ago at the Sony Open in Hawaii, the first full-field event of the 2004 PGA Tour season. She missed the 36-hole cut by a single stroke after posting an even- par total of 140.
Wie will be tested in one of the best tournaments in women's golf. The Evian Masters will be contested the week before the Women's British Open and among others, will feature defending champion
The young phenom is no stranger to LPGA events as she played in several last year, including appearances at the Nabisco Championship and U.S. Women's Open, both majors on the LPGA Tour. At the Nabisco, she played in the last group on Sunday before tying for ninth place.
Wie will not be the youngest woman to tee it up on the Ladies European Tour. That honor is held by England's Henrietta Brockway and Florentyna Parker, both of whom played in two events last season at the age of 13, the Wales WPGA Championship of Europe and the Lancia Ladies Open of Portugal.
