Totally NASCAR: Truck rule change; Cup crew chief fined

NASCAR announced an amendment to the rule on the measurement of the 2003 Chevrolet truck front air dam in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. The additional kickout of the Chevy front air dam may now not exceed three inches as it extends forward to the front bumper. The rule is effective August 6 and changes the previous measurement for the 2003 model from 2 1/2 inches.

Buckner stops here

NASCAR has fines Winston Cup crew chief Jeff Buckner $1,000 for a rule infraction that occurred during Brickyard 400 post-qualifying inspection. Buckner, crew chief for , was fined for an unapproved rear axle on the 02 Pontiac.

Petty's double duty

will be doing double duty this weekend at Watkins Glen. He'll be driving a Porsche in the Bully Hill Vineyards 250 in the Grand America Sportscar Series on Friday. Petty won a Winston Cup race at the Glen in 1992.
