Totally NASCAR: Power on line at Michigan as teams arrive safely in Detroit area

Power outages in Detroit cut short the Ford Fan Fest. Power "blinked on and off" and shut down temporarily at the Michigan International Speedway but is back on line. NASCAR teams in private planes are landing safely in the Detroit area.

Fueling speculation

A press conference has been scheduled for Friday morning at the Michigan International Speedway. It is expected that NASCAR will announce the new official fuel supplier for 2004. Unocal is the official fuel of NASCAR through the end of the season.

Dodge different in '05

The Winston Cup Scene is reporting that the Dodge Intrepid will stop being made in 2004. According to the article, Winston Cup Director John Darby said NASCAR has been informed by Dodge that the Intrepid will be replaced, possibly by the Dodge Charger or the Dodge Daytona in 2005.

Virginia is for racers

Virginia governor Mark Warner has announced the launch of the Virginia Motorsports Initiative. The purpose? To promote motorsports activities in the state as a means of economic development. , the Burton brothers and -- who all have ties to Virginia -- will be happy to hear that.
