Loudon, NH (Sports Network) - Pole sitter Jimmy Spencer, driving the No.2 Ultra Motorsports Dodge, captured the New Hampshire 200 Craftsman Truck Series event, defeating rookie Carl Edwards by 0.661 seconds. The victory was the first of Spencer's truck career in just his second race in the series. He also picked up $10,000 for winning the Craftsman 'Win from the Pole' award and has now scored a victory in each of NASCAR's three national series' - Winston Cup, Busch and Craftsman.

"I'll tell you something, this is an awesome race team," said Spencer. "I love driving for them...this is an awesome truck and whoever gets their butt in this truck next year can win the championship."

Spencer took the lead for good with an inside pass of Dennis Setzer and led the final 85 laps. He was only challenged seriously one time over that period. Following a caution brought out by a Stuart Kirby spin, Edwards made a run at the Winston Cup veteran. Edwards brought his No.99 Roush Racing Ford right up to Spencer's right rear fender, but the two touched and it sent Edwards into the outside wall, though only slightly. Edwards recovered and was able to hold onto second.

Bobby Hamilton, Setzer and points leader Brendan Gaughan completed the top- five.

Gaughan's fifth-place finish allowed the No.62 Dodge driver in expand his lead in the championship to nine points over Travis Kvapil, who finished seventh (2,786-2,777). Five other drivers still hold title hopes - Ted Musgrave (-62), Setzer (-101), Jon Wood (-164), Hamilton (-184) and Rick Crawford (-186).

The next race in the championship, The American Racing Wheels 200 from the California Speedway, is scheduled for Saturday, September 20th.
