The green-white-checkered kind of did me in. got into somebody off of Turn 2, and they got hung together. I got a run on Houston for 11th place and then we got down there in Turn 3. Other drivers had gone three-wide a couple of times, but it wasn't going to work that time. Houston and I got together, and I spun all the way around. I finished 24th, the last car on the lead lap. That's Martinsville. That's Bristol. When you go to these bullrings, you've got to play like a bull.

At the end of the race, I was tired, and I was glad they had all of those cautions. Good grief! It seemed like we rode around under caution for a long time. I had fun, and I'm ready to go on Sunday. I could fill in for my brother for about 250 of the 500 laps. I was better on the longer runs, and the truck had some kind of weird transmission which killed me on restarts. After the tire pressures came up, we were pretty good, but we were a little slow getting the pressures up. I thought we had a top-10 truck. It was pretty good in Happy Hour. The boys just did a good job for me. I had Jeff Hammond and Larry McReynolds. I've got a lot of great memories with Hammond on the pit box and old Larry Mac up there being my spotter. lt's a lot of fun for me. I hope you realize how much fun I have doing this because it's a thrill to get back out here and race a little bit.
