Robredo outlasts Gaudio in Barcelona

Barcelona, Spain (Sports Network) - Eighth-seeded Spaniard topped 13th-seeded in a marathon match in Sunday's final at the $1.174 million Open Seat Godo tennis event. Robredo disposed of Gaudio 6-3, 4-6, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 in his first ATP Tour singles final of 2004. Robredo's only career title came at Sopot in 2001 and he was also a finalist at Casablanca in 2001 and Stuttgart in 2003.

Gaudio, who won this event in 2002, moved into the final with a routine victory over Spaniard . Gaudio is now 3-3 in career final matches.

Robredo, meanwhile, collected $180,000 for his efforts. He also became the 11th Spaniard to claim this event.
