"I'm looking forward to competing in this weekend's All-Star race. It'll be a lot of fun to just go out there and race for the sake of racing without any points consequences. We're in this race because of Bill's win at Rockingham last year, so we want to have a good night. I like Charlotte because it allows you to move around a little bit and run where you need to on the racetrack. We were supposed to run the last Charlotte Busch race under the lights but it got moved to the next afternoon, so it'll be cool to get to race under the lights here."

"It's going to start getting tough when we have to start flying back and forth to some races. Nazareth should be a little easier because it's on Sunday after the All-Star race. It's going to get a little complicated, and we've got to make sure we can get to every practice and make sure we don't miss any Cup practice and try to get to every Busch practice we can. I think I do feel a little overwhelmed with it sometimes with all the directions they pull you during the week. Other than that, at the racetrack I think I'm getting that down. As soon as Busch practice is over you've got to run to your Cup car and pretty much back and forth all day until Sunday. I'm pretty much getting that stuff down. It's all the other stuff that comes along with it. It definitely gets overwhelming sometimes."

  • Kasey Kahne will make his first NASCAR NEXTEL All-Star start this year by virtue of Evernham Motorsports' 2003 victory in the Pop Secret Popcorn 400 at North Carolina Speedway with Bill Elliott in the No. 9 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge.

  • Kahne has competed in the last four NASCAR Busch Series events at Charlotte. He earned his best start of sixth, and his best finish of sixth in the May race last year. He started 11th and finished eighth in his most recent start last October, earning him a total of two top-10s at the track.

  • Kahne is running the new Evernham-designed chassis at Charlotte. The team will convert most of its race cars to the Evernham chassis this season. The chassis was designed by the Evernham engineering team along with Dodge Motorsports engineering.

  • Kahne earned his third Bud Pole Award of 2004 at California, putting him well on his way to challenging Ryan Newman's record six poles in a rookie season. Kahne set a qualifying record at Las Vegas for his first pole this year. He earned his second pole at Darlington just two races later, making him one of only five NASCAR drivers to earn multiple poles in their first five career starts.

  • Kahne's string of three top-fives in his first four career starts made him the first driver to accomplish the feat in more than 40 years of NASCAR racing. Most recently, Curley Barker notched three top-fives in his first four Grand National starts from May to September of 1963. Kahne's season total of four top-five finishes ties him for the second-most on the NEXTEL Cup Series circuit.
The No. 9 pit crew took top honors in 2003 in the Union 76 Pit Crew Competition and was voted The Sporting News Pit Crew of the Year. The pit crew propelled the 2003 No. 9 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge driver Bill Elliott's return to the year-end top 10. They also claimed eight wins in the Pit Crew Championship and finished fourth in the program's year-end standings.
