"Dover is one of my favorite tracks. The track is fast. You can drive the car hard there. I like that. It's a lot of fun. It's a cool track.

"We had a very good racecar at Dover last year and were in a position to win. To have a car that good and not be able to race for the win, that's pretty disappointing. (Kahne ran through the oil dropped by another car in turn three and four and slid into the outside retaining wall). There was no caution, so I had no clue the oil was there. We certainly had a car capable of winning, but ended up in the garage 19 miles short of the checkered flag.

"We knew we could win. It's a relief to get that first one. We knew we were capable, but we had to make it happen. We know now we not only can run up front, but we can finish the deal and get the win. We want to get in the Chase for the Nextel Cup, but we definitely want to win races too. We want to finish the race, but we also want to do everything we can as a team to keep the car up front and challenge for the win if the opportunity is there."

  • This weekend will mark Kahne's third NASCAR Nextel Cup Series start at Dover.
  • Kahne started 12th and finished 21st (both career track highs) at Dover last June. He had commanded the race lead for 36 laps when, with just 20 laps between him and his first career victory, Kahne spun in unseen oil spread by another driver when an engine expired. Kahne's Dodge suffered extensive damage, and did not return to the racetrack

  • Kahne will take another Evernham Motorsports in-house chassis to Dover. He ran this chassis at Bristol where it was fast off the truck — among the top 10 in practice, qualified in the top 10 and ran in the top 10 most of the day until being caught up in a 15-car mishap late in the race.

  • Kahne claimed his first NASCAR Nextel Cup Series victory in last month's race at Richmond.
  • Kahne started from the pole position, led seven times for 242 laps, and never fell out of the top ten, en route to his first career victory.
  • Kahne's win was also the first of the season for the new Dodge Charger, which returned this year after a 27-year hiatus from NASCAR's premier series.

  • Kahne's win was the sixth win for Evernham Motorsports, marking the fifth consecutive year that an Evernham Dodge has visited victory lane.
  • Kahne became the 11th driver to win from the pole position at Richmond, the last of whom was Bill Elliott who won from the top spot in spring of 1992.
  • Kahne also joined an exclusive club of 13 drivers to earn career wins in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck, Busch and Cup series.

  • Kahne claimed his second consecutive pole in the month of May, driving the No. 9 Dodge Charger to a time of 20.775 seconds at 129.964 mph around the 0.75-mile Richmond oval. The time was just a tick off the track record of 20.772 seconds set during last year's spring event.
  • The pole was the sixth of Kahne's career in just 47 Cup Series starts, following his Bud Pole effort one week prior at Darlington.
  • Kahne made it a qualifying sweep at Richmond as he also won the pole for the NASCAR Busch Series race. The weekend sweep marked the first time that Kahne's won the Bud Pole for both NASCAR racing events at a track on the same weekend.
