Nate Burleson Scouting Report

Burleson isn't well known outside of Nevada and the WAC but could make his mark in the NFL. He has good height, not much weight, and only average speed. However, he has good hands and runs nice, precise routes. He is quicker than fast, comes out of his breaks well, and gets good separation from his defender. He is extremely elusive in the open field and has enough speed and moves to score from anywhere on the field if he catches the ball in stride. Despite his lack of size, he is a good receiver going over the middle. Burleson isn't a great blocker, but he gives good effort. He has been used some as a returner as well. He will need to improve getting off the line of scrimmage, especially coming from the wide-open offense run in Nevada. He dislocated his shoulder in 2001, so there could be injury concerns regarding him.
