MEMPHIS (October 20, 2003)

Kasey Kahne, driver of the No. 38 Great Clips Ford, starts 18th in Saturday's Sam's Town 250 NASCAR Busch Series race at Memphis Motorsports Park .   Kahne circled the .750-mile banked oval with a pace of 117.040 mph in 23.069 seconds.

David Reutimann, who qualified the No. 7 Chevy, took the pole for the Sam's Town 250 with his lap time of 22.544 seconds.  For tomorrow's race; however, NASCAR Winston Cup Series regular Greg Biffle plans to field the No. 7.
Biffle was unable to make today's qualifying session in
Memphis due to his Winston Cup responsibilities in Martinsville, Virginia
, therefore, Reutimann made the qualifying attempt.

"The qualifying laps actually felt pretty good," said Kahne.  "I honestly thought we would have qualified better than 18th, but I guess not.

"I couldn't pick up the throttle as soon as I wanted to, so I think that's what slowed me down.  So, we'll be starting a little further back than what we're used to, but that just means we'll have some work to do early in the race tomorrow to get through the field."

Kyle Busch, Brian Vickers, Bobby Hamilton, Jr., and Ron Hornaday, Jr., round out the top five.

The Sam's Town 250 gets the green flag at
3 p.m. EDT
Saturday. TNT and MRN have live coverage.
