Joe Gibbs Racing and Samaritan's Purse team up to aid those affected by Hurricane Katrina

Beginning Monday and continuing through Fri., Sept. 30, Joe Gibbs Racing will serve as a collection center for items that will be donated to those impacted by Hurricane Katrina. In partnership with Samaritan's Purse, an international relief organization based in Boone, N.C., Joe Gibbs Racing will collect donations between 4-7 p.m. The following items have been recognized by Samaritan's Purse as those of immediate need.
  • Hygiene Products
  • Infant Supplies (diapers, wipes, formula and bottles)
  • Underwear
  • Socks
  • Medical Supplies (diabetes test strips, children & adult medicine, gel hand sanitizer, etc.)
  • Batteries
  • Sandals (for use in community showers)
  • Mosquito Repellent
Directions to Joe Gibbs Racing, as well as any new donation needs, can be viewed at www.joegibbsracing.com. Samaritan's Purse is working in Mississippi and Louisiana to help thousands of people recover from Hurricane Katrina. In addition to distributing donated items, Samaritan's Purse is providing housing while sending medical teams and children's gifts. Samaritan's Purse founder Franklin Graham, son of the Reverend Billy Graham, has challenged churches nationwide to open their doors to displaced families. Samaritan's Purse is setting an example in Shreveport, La., by providing 100 mobile homes and arranging church support. Volunteers with Samaritan's Purse Disaster Relief Units have also made emergency repairs on more than 600 homes in Mississippi and Alabama. For more information, visit www.samaritanspurse.org.
