JGR Finish: Denny Hamlin (2nd - running); Tony Stewart (6th - running); J.J. Yeley (22nd - running) Denny Hamlin nearly scored his first points-paying victory in Saturday night's Crown Royal 400 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race at the .75-mile Richmond (Va.) International Raceway. Hamlin, who won the non-points Budweiser Shootout in February at Daytona (Fla.), finished second, just .572 seconds behind winner Dale Earnhardt Jr. Hamlin led 19 of 400 laps and led as late at Lap 348 in the No. 11 FedEx Kinko's Chevrolet. Tony Stewart, driver of the No. 20 Home Depot Chevrolet, continued his consistent season with a sixth-place finish. It marked his seventh top-10 finish in the 10 races held this season. J.J. Yeley, driver of the No. 18 Interstate Batteries Chevrolet, finished 22nd. Stewart continues to lead the trio of JGR drivers in the championship point standings. His sixth-place effort moved him from third to second in the Nextel Cup point standings, just 55 points behind series leader Jimmie Johnson. Hamlin's second-place effort moved him from 19th to 16th, while Yeley remained in 22nd. Earnhardt's win was his 17th career Nextel Cup victory and his first of the season. Kevin Harvick finished third behind Hamlin, while Greg Biffle and Kyle Busch secured the rest of the top-five. Stewart, Carl Edwards, Ryan Newman, Sterling Marlin and Clint Bowyer comprised the rest of the top-10. The next event on the Nextel Cup schedule is the May 13 Dodge Charger 500 at Darlington (S.C.)
