Darrell Waltrip: I looked down from the booth, and I said, "Man, he doesn't have any sponsors on the side of that car." I've been down here in a situation similar to that back in '98 so I know what it feels like. DWStore.com is a company that Larry McReynolds, Jeff Hammond and I started. We were sitting up there in the booth, and they said, "Hey, what an opportunity. We can jump on board with Mike. Help him out, and get DWStore.com a little exposure." I'm not your car owner, but I am a partner. : We're business partners. I like that. I'll tell you what. Two weeks ago, man, I was rockbottom. Coming to Daytona, I felt on top of the world because the race fans are the ones that put me here. XM Nation started donations, and (XM Satellite Radio host) Claire B. Lang called us and told us, "Man, you're not going to believe this. These people want you to go to Daytona." And we went with it. We were doing it on our own, and we've received a ton of support from the fans -- through XM Nation -- friends like Greg Zipadelli and 's buying my tires. Darrell Waltrip: Here's what we're going to do. Let's get through this weekend. Let's make the most out of this, and then we'll see what happens for next weekend. What do you think about that? : Sounds good. One day at a time, Darrell! Darrell Waltrip: One race at a time. Let's get through down here, and then we'll go forward from here. I want to wish you good luck. You're going to have a whole lot of guys up there in that booth pulling for you and a whole lot of fans up there in the stands and back home in TV land as well. Katie (Mike's wife), are you excited? Katie McLaughlin: Right on. Darrell Waltrip: Are you nervous? Katie McLaughlin: Yeah. Darrell Waltrip: I am too. The first time I owned my own race car, I was a nervous wreck. Katie McLaughlin: I am. Darrell Waltrip: But it'll work out. : Darrell, I appreciate you guys coming on board with us, and we're going to have a lot of fun. Darrell Waltrip: We will, and you know what we're going to do? We're going to get in that old car, and we're going to go, "Boogity, Boogity, Boogity." : I thought that was going to be on the sides of the car. Darrell Waltrip: It's going to be on there. It'll be on there, trust me. For more on McLaughlin and how he got to Daytona, read Mike and Katie in their own words:
