Dover, DE (Sports Network) - won Friday afternoon's MBNA America 200 Craftsman Truck Series race at the Dover International Speedway. The No.18 Dodge driver crossed the finish line four lengths ahead of runner-up . The victory was the first of Chaffin's truck career. His previous best finish was a third place at the Michigan International Speedway last July. In this very competitive series, Chaffin is the sixth different winner in six events.

"We all but gave up three or four times, but Chad never gave up and we pulled this thing off," said crew chief Kip McCord.

The early portion of the event was dominated by pole winner and 1995 Craftsman Truck Series champion . But the two leaders along with most of the field got caught when a caution came out in the middle of the final green flag pit stops.

Skinner had pitted on lap 135 and Edwards ran out of gas on his way to pit lane on lap 150. As Edwards' pit crew tried to restart his Ford, Kevin Love struck the inside pit wall. The caution left just five trucks (Chaffin, Crawford, Hank Parker, and Alan Houston) on the lead lap.

Chaffin was able to hold off Crawford on the final restarts to score his first win.

"I got right up to his bumper, but Chad has always raced me clean," said Crawford. "Congratulations for him winning his first Craftsman Truck Series race, I know what that means to a young man."

Parker Jr., and Schrader completed the top-five.

Dave Blaney, in his first career truck start, finished sixth, with Houston, , , and rounding out the top-10.

The next race in the Craftsman championship, the O'Reilly 400K from the Texas Motor Speedway, is scheduled for Saturday, June 11th.
