News: Watson's exemption was extending one year by the R&A, allowing the 64-year old to play in July's Open Championship at St. Andrews, ESPN.com reports.
Impact: Watson earned a five-year exemption by finishing second in the 2009 Open Championship, but was granted a one-year extension in order to play in his 40th tournament. Watson has won the Open Championship five times. In 2015, Watson has appeared in four tournaments, two on the Champions tour, where his best finish was 21st. Watson missed the cut at the Masters two weeks ago, and has hinted that the 2015 Masters could be his last.
