HOW THEY GOT HERE

Tiger Woods and Lindsey Vonn made headlines in March when they announced they were a couple. See how love bloomed.

Tiger Woods described his recent major-championship drought as "frustrating" in a recent interview with CNN's Rachel Nichols in Turkey.

But the World No. 1 also pointed out that he has had his fair share of chances to win his first major title in five years.

"It takes a long time to win a lot of major championships," said Woods, who sat down Nichols to discuss a variety of topics, including his season on the golf course, his kids and girlfriend Lindsey Vonn.

"You're going to have your years where you play really well and you maybe clip two or three out of there, and then you're going to have years where you just don't when anything, but you're there. Quite frankly, since 2008, I've been there with a chance to win about half of them, just haven't seem to have won one yet."

Woods has won 14 major championships among his 79 Tour titles, ranking second behind Jack Nicklaus (18) and Sam Snead (82) in the respective categories. He hasn't won a major since the 2008 US Open at Torrey Pines. But Woods has been a regular contender in the majors, finishing T-6 or better nine times since his last major triumph.

This season, Woods won five times on the PGA Tour, making it eight victories on Tour in the past two seasons.

"Going through and battling the injuries that I had, and to now have finally come out on the other side, where I feel more consistent. ... I'm very, very proud of that," said Woods, who will turn 38 on Dec. 30.

Also, remember when Vonn told talk-show host Katie Couric that Woods was "dorky-goofy" in a recent interview?

Well, Woods' response to that?

"I guess so. My teammates used to call me Urkel back in college," said Woods, referencing Steve Urkel, the bespectacled, suspenders-clad star of the "Family Matters" 1990s sitcom. "Yeah, I do have that little nerdy of side of me. That’s probably why I got into Stanford."
