Toms coasts to first win in two years

Charlotte, NC (Sports Network) - carded a quadruple-bogey eight on the last hole, but still shot a one-over 73 Sunday to cruise to a two-shot win at the Wachovia Championship. He finished the tournament at 10-under-par 278 to earn his eighth career PGA Tour title. Robert Gamez, Brent Geiberger and tied for second at eight-under- par 280. Toms cruised through his round and led by six heading to the 18th hole. He lost his drive well right into the gallery and pitched his second through the left side of the fairway and into a hazard. He played the ball from there and pitched it down the fairway. Toms then knocked his fourth onto the green, but 50 feet from the cup. He then four-putted for an eight on the final hole and his final margin of two strokes was his slimmest of the day. Toms began his day at Quail Hollow Golf Club with a birdie at the par-four third. He followed that with another birdie at the par-five seventh. Around the turn, Toms rolled in a 12-footer for birdie at the par-five 10th. This gave him a six-stroke lead. Singh got within four strokes with a birdie at the 15th. However he double bogeyed the 17th to fall back into a share of second. and tied for fifth at seven-under-par 281.
