Dallas Cowboys' quarterback Tony Romo shot a final-round, 3-under 69 to erase a three-shot deficit and win the Will County Amateur Championship on April 20. Romo had the low round of the day and nearly matched the tournament-low of 4-under 68. The tournament was played at the par-72, 6,700-yard Balmoral Woods Country Club in Crete, Ill. In March, Romo tied for 36th at the Azalea Invitational. Romo has also tried to qualify for several professional events. In 2004, he unsuccessfully attempted to qualify for the EDS Byron Nelson Championship. He endured the same fate when he tried to qualify for the 2005 U.S. Open. Most recently, he failed to qualify for the Byron Nelson in 2008.
