Tuesday's guest is legendary hall of fame broadcaster Ernie Harwell, who discusses his new book Ernie Harwell: My 60 years in baseball. Things have gone from bad to worse for 17-year-old Tour player Ty Tryon. He hasn't made a single cut this year on Tour, therefore he hasn't made a single dollar. Supporting an entourage of 11 is nearly impossible on earnings of zero dollars and zero cents. He hasn't had a single score below 71 all year, and on top of all that, he now has mono. Tryon says he will skip the next three events and his agent says they make ask the Tour for a medical exemption next year if he doesn't get better and earn enough money to keep his card. Let me tell you something. This isn't about him having mono. This is about him not making a single cut, or earning a single dollar before he got sick. This is about a 17-year-old kid trying to compete with grown men. It was a bad idea. And having him roll with an 11-person entourage was an even worse idea. And if they do in fact, ask for that medical exemption, what kind of a message does that send the kid? That you're not good enough to make it, so we're going to cheat to get you your card back? And how badly do you think his confidence has been shaken by this whole experience? Badly enough that he never gets it back? Bottom line: This is a talented kid, a good kid. But save this nonsense about a medical exemption. Go back to Q-School and earn your card like everyone else. There are no free rides. Not to say I told you so, but I told you so. This was a bad idea from the beginning and it's only getting worse.
