Prize money increased for U.S. Opens

Olympia Fields, IL (Sports Network) - The United States Golf Association has announced purse increases for the U.S. Open, U.S. Women's Open and U.S. Senior Open. This year's U.S. Open will have a total purse of $6 million, an increase of $500,000 from last year. The winner will receive $1.08 million, $80,000 more than earned for capturing last year's title at Bethpage. Olympia Fields Country Club in Illinois will host this year's U.S. Open from June 12-15. The Women's and Senior Opens will each have purse increases of $100,000. Prize money for the Women's Open will be $3.1 million, with the winner earning $560,000. This year's championship will be played at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club in Oregon from July 3-6. The Senior Open purse will be $2.6 million and the winner will earn $470,000. The Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio will host this year's championship from June 26-29.
